Presbytery of the Pacific Honors Pastor Matt

We are proud to report that the Presbytery of the Pacific has honored Pastor Matt with special recognition for his tireless work in helping houses of worship to finally receive “Special Inclusion,” a classification that allows access to free cleanup services from FEMA and Army Corps of Engineers.

Surely, without Pastor Matt drawing attention to the plight of all houses of worship—Pali Pres having gained the most publicity—the plight of houses of worship in the face of this disaster would have not been on anyone's radar. It was an issue for which a strong advocate was needed. Whether right place/right time or something else, word has it that Pastor Matt’s passion brought about recognition of an important gap in disaster response and helping communities move forward.

Deacons of the Month

We are blessed to have a wonderful Deacon Board that works together to support our church family. We will continue serving our congregation with a system called “Deacons of the Month.” Below is the schedule of Deacon teams that will help tend to any congregational care needs.

Our Deacons are headed by Joanna Darvish (Moderator and Clerk), Joani Kazorowski (Secretary), and Staci Mitchel (Treasurer).

Please join us in praying for our Deacons as they faithfully serve our church! We will soon have an installation and ordination service to officially welcome them, and we will also hold our traditional “Deacon Sunday” so that everyone can get to know them better. If you would like to make a donation to help this ministry flourish, please send funds with “Deacon Fund” in the check memo line or give via our church website giving page.

Good News Corner

This past Tuesday, Marquez Charter Elementary School returned to the Palisades less than nine months after fire destroyed its campus. Complete with new (and brightly painted!) mobile classrooms, a library, cafeteria, and plenty of outdoor playspace, the reopened Marquez campus is yet another sign of the progress being made to restore and rebuild the Pacific Palisades. Thanks be to God for this exciting new chapter, and thanks to all the workers, contractors, teachers, and LAUSD administrators who helped make it happen. Let's keep all the Marquez students (including our own Joshua and Luke Hardin), teachers, and staff in our prayers as they break in their new school facilities.

You Can Be a Snack Angel!

We are looking for volunteers to serve as Sunday Snack Angels! On the snack table each Sunday is a sign up sheet for you to select a date to provide snacks for our church family.

If you are unable to physically pick up and deliver the snacks yourself, please make a note next to your name and you can donate $100 to cover the cost of all the food for one Sunday. This donation can also be made online HERE. Please contact Elder Lynnette Shishido, our snack captain, or Pastor Grace for more information and to sign up!

We are so thankful to last Sunday’s Snack Angels, Lynette Shishido and Dianne Jerome, for graciously providing coffee and refreshments. What a blessing! This week’s refreshments are provided by an Anonymous Angel!
