A Prayer for the Conflict in the Middle East

Lord God, Heavenly Father,

In times of uncertainty and conflict, we come before You with humble hearts. Our world once again faces the tragedy of war, and we grieve the lives that will be lost and the families who will be displaced.

We ask for Your wisdom and guidance to rest upon the leaders. Grant them clarity, courage, and discernment as they carry heavy responsibilities.

Bring comfort to those who suffer, protection to those in harm’s way, and strength to the men and women who serve. Move in ways beyond our understanding to restrain violence and establish a just and lasting peace among Your people.

May we be instruments of compassion, unity, and reconciliation in a divided world.

We offer this prayer in faith and hope.

Amen.

Daylight Savings - Sunday, March 8th

This is a friendly reminder for everyone to “spring forward” this Sunday and set their clocks one hour ahead for daylight savings time!

Due to the LA Marathon route we cannot worship at our normal 2:30pm time on Sunday, March 8th. We’ll be joining our friends at BPC for more of an informal service followed by tacos.

“Winter Refuge” Update

Last Friday evening (Feb 27), five volunteers from our church visited First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood to support residents in their "Winter Refuge" program (a ministry for those experiencing poverty and homelessness). The team helped prepare and serve dinner for about 30 guests and then sat among the participants during the meal, taking time to talk, listen, and get to know the people they were serving.

In addition to volunteering their time, our church also presented a check to First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood to help support the ongoing work of the Winter Refuge ministry and contribute toward sustaining the program in the future.

After dinner, the barbershop quartet, Singray, shared their gift of music with everyone present. The quartet, which includes church members David and Catherine Wood, performed four songs in close harmony, bringing smiles, applause, and a warm close to the evening. It was a simple but meaningful time of fellowship, hospitality, music, and partnership in ministry within our wider community.

The Passing of Jonny Draper

It is with a sad heart we share the news that Barbie and Bob Draper’s son, Jonny Draper, passed away last weekend. We will miss him dearly, even though we know he now comfortably rests in the arms of his Savior.

Please hold the Draper family, in your prayers as they grieve Jonny’s passing. Details for a memorial service will be announced soon.

Deacons of the Month

For the month of March, our Deacons of the Month are Margi & Dean St. Clair and Marie Anne Helgeson.

Our Deacon Board will be rotating duties each month, and if any need arises during a particular month, the Deacons of the Month will be attending to the needs of our church family.

Build Homes, Build Hope with Habitat for Humanity

All spots for the March 21st build have been filled and we are ecstatic at how quickly this happened! Please stay tuned for the next opportunity in May!

You Can Be a Snack Angel!

We are looking for volunteers to serve as Sunday Snack Angels! On the snack table each Sunday is a sign up sheet for you to select a date to provide snacks for our church family.

If you are unable to physically pick up and deliver the snacks yourself, please make a note next to your name and you can donate $100 to cover the cost of all the food for one Sunday. This donation can also be made online HERE. Please contact Elder Lynette Shishido, our snack captain, or Pastor Grace for more information and to sign up!
