Dr. Lenard Berglund

 
Len Berglund comes to PPPC with a wealth of educational and musical experiences. Educated in local Southern California schools, he began his early musical training with studies in piano, violin, french horn and finally settled into vocal studies as his primary performing instrument. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral Music Education from California State University, Fullerton and followed that with a Master of Arts in Music from California State University, Los Angeles. He received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, where his primary areas of study were Choral and Instrumental Conducting, Music History and Church Music. Active as a performer, Dr. Berglund has been an active member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale (tenor) since 1981. Prior to his appointment as Director of Traditional Music at PPPC, he has served as Director of Music Ministry at California Heights United Methodist Church, Long Beach and First Friends Church, Whittier. Dr. Berglund also served on staff and as Music Coordinator for the Los Angeles branch of Augsburg Fortress, the publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
