You are cordially invited to attend a concert of some splendid pieces by Bach and Brahms to be presented jointly by The Laudamus Te Singers and the Choir of Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church. Jaco Wong, who succeeded me several years ago as music director at PPPC, will conduct Bach’s popular Cantata No. 140, Wachet auf (Sleepers, Wake).
I will lead two of Brahms’ 15-minutes works, less often performed than his earlier Requiem, but equally as beautiful: Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) and Nänie (Elegy), plus selections from his second set of Lovesong Waltzes, Neue Liebeslieder, opus 65.
I hope you can join us in this program of music by my top-two favorite composers, on Sunday, June 24, 4 p.m. at Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church.
